Foxy to the zoo part 1
 The Arctic Fox
1995 - 2008
 

I use to cal myself for Foxy in my stories.
i'm getting on the blue bus on a trip to the zoo. This bus will go to Mo i Rana in Norway. But I will go off the bus in the town Lycksele there the zoo is.

The word "Blå Vägen" on the bus means "The Blue Road". I felt very happy to make this trip.

Here I will tell about the Arctic fox (Alopex lagopus)
My jacket has the trademark "Fjällräven" and that means "Arctic Fox". And that's why I was joking that the real Arctic foxes in Lycksele are my relatives. :-)

2006-07-25. In summer the Arctic fox loose the white coat and it becomes dark- or light grey. And then the fox does not look as big as in the white winter coat.

I had only time in the summer vacation to go to the zoo because I still was working. But once I was be in the zoo in the beginning of may. And then I could see the foxes in their white coat.

The food was fresh bread with slices of a salt sausage and ice water.
I was very hungry. But the arctic foxes were hungry too and were waiting for the car with the food.

1987. That year we were there, the foxes ha a lot of cubs. Ove  (stripy t-shirt) and Lennart 8 years ( white t-shirt) are standing behind the bars.

I took this picture from the other side of the cage. And put the lens through the bars. Then it looks like I was in the cage too.

2008-06-25. I went to the zoo again to see my "relatives" The Arctic foxes.
2008-06-25. Here the arctic fox was looking at me.
2008-06-25. As I was there earlier in the season, the arctic fox still had parts of the winter coat. And it became white-grey.
2008-06-25. I was sitting on the bench again, eating my lunch. When I rustled with the lunch bag, the arctic foxes went so curious and came to the fence. This one was looking curious at me.
2008-06-25. This one was very curious. But I did not feed him. You may not do this.
2008-06-25. I hear the food car coming?
2008-06-25. Yes there's the car. The food is coming!

Notice the first pictures on this site. There the foxes got a kind of minced meat frozen in the shape of a cube. But this year they had common meat.
2008-06-25. The fox took the food with him to hide it.
