and the elephants 1993-06-22 Memories 2008-08-23 |

| In this story I want to tell about my meeting with elephants. | |
 |

| 2008-08-23. It was a sunny day. I walked on a bike path to the district named Mariehem. Here the path goes down the hill. this walk was a "up-and-downhill" walk. In the distance there are 2 viaducts so you can walk or bike under the roads goes under a roads. | |

| 2008-08-23. This is the Mariehems Road. It is a rather steep hill. | |
 |
|
| 2008-08-23. I passed the Mariehem fields. But this time I should not go to the geese. I had no time left to this. | |
 |

| Here you can see the top of 2 viaducts. | |

| 2008-08-23. I walked to the shop named ICA Mariehem, to buy some things they did not have in the shop near home. | |
 |

| 2008-08-23. I like the fountain and the wonderful flowers. | |
 |

| 2008-08-23. I was looking at the little fountain. And then I got some wonderful memories. | |
 |
|
| It was in the year 1993. At June 22. I biked to the same shop at Mariehem. Then the shop was called ICA Raketen. (Raketen = The Rocket). The ICA shop had an nice event. They hired circus elephants who came with their animal keepers to the shop. This elephant passed very near me. | |
 |

| 1993-06-22. The elephants were placed beside the shop. Of course they got food immediately. They got MUCH food. Tomatoes, lettuce, bananas fruit and old dry bread. | |
 |
|
| 1993-06-22. The elephants like the food very much. | |
 |
|
| 1993-06-22. And more food was coming. | |
 |

| 1993-06-22. This elephant was eating from the box. :-) | |
 |

1993-06-22. There were 3 elephants. |

| 1993-06-22. The man from the circus told that you could go and see these elephants in their circus performance in the evening. | |
 |

| 1993-06-22. The man also told some things about elephants. He explained the difference between an African elephant and an Indian elephant. The African elephant has big ears and big tusks. The Indian elephant has not so big ears and smaller tusks. They can be used as working elephants. | |

| 1993-06-22. Here the man shows that the elephant has a thick skin. | |

| 1993-06-22. They put a man in the staff at ICA on the elephant. | |
 |

| 1993-06-22. I liked this elephant, I could pet him. The skin of the elephant felt like leather. I felt the I had good contact with this elephant. The elephant looked at me with his big kind eyes. | |
 |

| I was not at the circus that evening. But at the end of the 80th century I was to a circus with Lennart. Then he still was a child. There we saw elephants. There is a woman lying on the floor and the elephant should walk, but NOT step on her. | |
 |
|
| He made it to walk without stepping on her. | |
 |
|
| Here the elephant showed some more things. | |

| 2008-08-23. I bought the food and walked home. This is the Mariehem road. A road and a bike path. It's beautiful with the birches by the road. | |
 |

| 2008-08-23.
I came
back to the district named Berghem. The word means Mountain Home.
Because it's on hills and rocks. There are many small houses with gardens
at Berghem but also apartment houses. The walk to the ICA shop gave me wonderful memories. |
