Foxy and the geese part 8 2008-10-04 |
This was the last time in 2008 I met the geese by the Mariehem pond. They should move home to the farm soon.
I passed the gardens again. Some leaves that were in shelter and still green.
It had been raining all night, but now the rain stopped. It was wet and dusk outside. I hade warm clothes under my jacket.
The last rose of the summer. A dog rose flower.
The bumble bees had done the work well. There were rose hips on the bushes.
Late autumn in the woods.
Late autumn in the woods.
It was hazy, and there were heavy clouds. The pond looked grey. In the distance I saw the tame geese on the island. (Small white spots on the picture)
There were some crows sitting in the grass. I threw some bits of bread to them and they went happy.
The tame ducks came walking to me.
And all the other ducks came too.
And the Barnacle goose and the Canada goose came too.
They were hungry. | |
It was fun to feed them. | |
I fed all the birds. | |
But I tried to feed the Barnacle goose and the Canada goose most.
The Barnacle goose following me.
Ha, ha, ha ! This duck got a nice decoration stuck on his breast. An autumn leave :-)
The Barnacle goose walking to me again.
These ducks were quacking all the time. :)
The Barnacle goose was following me again. I felt so happy to have him so hear her.
The magpies also got bread.
This crow got bread too. Later he was croaking in a tree, saying "Thank you".
This remarkable brown and white duck also got an autumn leave stuck on his breast :-)
Is not he wonderful! | |
The Barnacle goose drinking water. He went thirsty after the food.
He was honking a "Thank you" to me.
He came back to me again.
I found this fence. It's for taking the geese inside and capture them when they need to go home. Now I understood that the farmer soon should get the geese inside the fence and take them home. I was here in time to see them before they should leave..
The tame geese were on the island. And that was good. Then I could take more pictures and could spent more time with the Barnacle goose.
It was real fun to see how the Barnacle and Canada goose were together all the time.
What did Barnacle find there?
It was a little puddle. Now both were drinking water there. Even though they had the whole pond for drinking water ;-)
I moved and then the whole gaggle was following me :-)
The tame geese were still on the island.
Barnacle posing for the camera.
The female Skåne goose took a nap.
Barnacle and Canada goose still were eating.
The tama ducks following me again, they looks so funny :)
The food was eaten. But there came some people with food. The ducks saw them.
Barnacle and Canada goose saw them too.
All came running. | |
The tame ducks begging for food.
Now the food was eaten and Barnacle and Canada walked back.
I saw a couple white a dog on the leash coming on distance. The ducks could not see this. Because they
were so near the ground and a bush was in their way. But the geese on the island saw the dog from distance and went honking loudly. |
|
After it they went down in the water, still honking loudly. And then all the ducks went down in the water too.
Barnacle and Canada went to the water too.
Barnacle was first in the water.
Now both were in the water. And when the couple with the dog came nearby, all the duck were gone from land.
The geese were good watchmen.
It was time to go home for. I said goodbye to all my friends.
I looked back one more time. The pond was so dark and grey.
There were still autumn colours.
Autumn colours in the woods too. But many leaves had fallen down.
I saw something remarkable in a garden I passed. Down under the hedge, in shelter there were still flowers.
I was thinking of the geese. It was hard to say goodbye. The street there I live looked so dark and grey.
But
my wish came true. I could meet Barnacle the whole summer and
Barnacle could live on a wonderful place. And got a Canada goose
friend. It was hard to say goodbye to Barnacle. I was hoping to see him again next summer. But while writing this home page, I did not know that she should meet him again in November. Then it was cold and I had changed to winter jacket and was Rödluvan. |
