Foxy to the zoo part 2
The red fox
1999 - 2008
 
In this site I will tell about the red fox (Vulpes vulpes) in the zoo in Lycksele.
2007-08-06. Is not he cute?
2006-07-25. Fox on the run :-)
2006-07-25. These foxes saw that the zoo keeper was coming with food.
2006-07-25. The fox was sitting nice waiting for the food.
2006-07-25. The zoo keeper was amused ;)
2006-07-25. Here the fox was jumping up to the zoo keeper. We all were laughing :-)
2007-08-06. This fox is beautiful.
2007-08-06. Running to the zoo keeper.
2007-08-06. This fox was also sitting nice, waiting for food.
2007-08-06. Here we almost could pet the fox.
2007-08-06. I saw this fox from the bench while I was eating lunch.
2008-06-25. I went to the zoo again and met the same female fox as last year.
2008-06-25. There are a lot of green plants and high grass in the fox cage. Then she can hide her cubs so they will feel safe.
2008-06-25. Is not she sweet. The zoo took care of her when she was a cub and was given up by her mother. That's why she is rather tame.
2008-06-25. She was rather wet because it rained a lot.
2008-06-25. Now the car with the food was on it's way and the tourists came to see the feeding.

2008-06-25. Then the fox had a little circus and climbed up on the fence. We were laughing so much about this. It looked so funny to see her up there :-D

But the cage was made on a special way, so she could not escape.
2008-06-25. Now she was down on the ground again waiting for the zoo keeper. Here you can see how wet her coat is.
2008-06-25. When she got food, she did not eat it directly. She took it with her to the cubs.
2008-06-25. After that she came back to the zoo keeper to get more.
When I came home I told my friend the Spanish fox about the funny red fox in the Lycksele zoo. :-)

1999-06-06. Once we had a fox in our neighbour hood. Lennart and his friends saw this fox. This happened on the Gammlia open air museum. A wild fox happened to be there.

It was midsummer at the end of June. It was rather late and the boys had a grill party with the fire place at the open air museum. That time of the year there is  daylight the whole day and night. It only is a little dusk in the middel of the nignt. That's why the amimals are awake also in the middel of the nignt.

My son, Lennart took these pictures of the fox.

1999-06-06. We are living near the woods and near an open air museum. Winter 1998 a red fox moved in into the woods near our home.

1999-06-06. One morning a neighbour was on her way to the bus stop in our street. Then she saw the red fox crossing our street. The fox went to the bus stop and it seemed it should stay there waiting for the bus ;)  But then a dog was barking in one of the gardens and the fox run away. 

1999-06-06. My son saw the fox  later in winter. It was at night at Valentine. Then it was dark at night But he saw the fox in the light of the street lamps. The fox walked slowly on the sidewalk to the traffic light at the corner in our street. Maybe the fox needed somebody to help pushing the bottom of the traffic light so it would turn to green? ;) 

1999-06-06. In June my son and his friends went till Gammlia open air museum to a barbecue. Then the fox came to the boys begging food. And the boys fed the fox and the fox was not so afraid of the boys. He was hungry. As it is summer the fox did not need a thick coat.

The red fox will loose coat when it's warmer. And then the fox is not as beautiful as in winter.

1999-06-06. The fox walked away but came back later and then it was carrying a bird in it’s mouth. Later a neighbour told to me that there was a red fox with puppies in the woods. But we don’t know if it was this fox.

2002. Red fox at the Lycksele Zoo.
2002. This is a tame fox. People found it in the woods, left on it's own to die. They took home the fox and cared for her. But they could not have a wild fox at home and gave it to the zoo. When the zoo keeper came with the food, this fox came to him and took the food from his hand
2002. This fox was looking curious at me when I took the picture. Here you can see that the fox is loosing the winter coat.
