Foxy and the reindeer 3 |
||||
2012-03-10. I went to the reindeer again.
2010-03-08. I was at the museum and should hear about the Sami Coffee tradition. This is dried smoked reindeer meat and coffee cheese.
2010-03-08. You put it in you cup and have it in the coffee.
2010-03-08.
The cheese becomes soft in the
coffee and the meat will be soft too.
The told me in the museum that this cheese came from mountain cows. Coffee cheese is not a cheese that taste cheese like you can have on a sandwich. It does not taste so much. The meaning is that you have it in the coffee and then it is rich and you need this when you are working in the mountains or in the woods. The cheese becomes soft and you eat it with a spoon. The reindeer meat and the cheese are giving nutriment. |
||||
The Sami and also Swedish people who are outdoors in the woods, are drinking boiled coffee. You have a coffee kettle and boil water in it on the open fire while you are out in the wilderness or boil the water on you stove. Than you put in the coffee and let it boil a little while. You let the coffee grounds go to the bottom of the kettle before you serve the coffee.
2010-03-10. The sled reindeer was standing in the sheep pasture again. But this day the Sami neither did pull the sled.
2010-03-10. | ||||
2010-03-10. The calve was so funny today.
2010-03-10. When the woman lift the bag with food, the calve lift it's paw and was pointing on the bag and begging for more. This looked so funny. :-) But I did not get it on the picture when the calve lift the paw.
2010-03-10. Gatti eating snow. This is their way to drink in winter.
2010-03-10. Both eating snow.
2010-03-10. This one was also eating snow.

2010-03-10. Here are 2 reindeer in the sheep pasture.
2010-03-10. . Sheep pasture. It was strange to see reindeer here instead of sheep. But the snow is very deep, almost as deep is the sheep fence.
2010-03-10. Gatti | ||||

My favourite reindeer Gatti.
The Woods Sami cabin. | ||||
A storing place with a lot of snow on the roof.
The North Sami cabin. | ||||
This painted wall is made of snow. A truck came and placed the wall here.
The Sami painted art on the 3 walls.
It looks so nice and colourful.
I bought these cards, en tiny know and a Fjällräv = Arctic Fox made of ceramic.
The tiny knife is the point of a reindeer horn. The point is very sharp. The Sami made the cover of the knife. It's real good art. The colours on the knife covers are 2 of the 4 colours from the Sami flag.
Here you can see the Sami flag. It's beautiful.
The ceramic Arctic Fox that I
bought is made of a Sami artist. The home page of the art. |
||||
This is a real Fjällräv (Arctic
Fox) I took this picture in the zoo. It still has a part of his
winter fur. In the real cold the fjällräv has thick fur. the Arctic
Fox is my favourite animal. About the Arctic Fox |
||||
I use clothes and outdoor equipment of the trade mark "Fjällräven" (arctic fox).
I had a wonderful week in the woods with the reindeer. The weather was nice and it was so peaceful to be in the woods. A lot of thanks to the Sami and the museum people who made such a wonderful Sami week.
