The reindeer part 3

2012-03-09. Me feeding a reindeer with lichen.
2012-03-08. Also this day it was cold but the weather was nice.
2012-03-08. Another mark to show the way to the Sami houses.
2012-03-08. I was in the woods rather early. Then these 2 reindeer were still in the pasture.
2012-03-08.
2012-03-08. Some prams by the wooden reindeer. The children were inside the Sami kåta. (house)
2012-03-08. Bob. He really looks impressive.
2012-03-08. These people were throwing the lasso on reindeer antlers (NOT ON REAL REINDEER). I also tried it but it did not go well. You have to practise to learn this.
2012-03-08. When I came into the North Sami House I saw that the man had lit a candle. Then my thoughts went back to winter 2011 when I was searching for the light. In this house there was always light because of kind people.
2012-03-08. The door of the iron range was open so I could see the light of the fire too.
2012-03-08. It was warm and cosy in the house. An iron range gives very good warmth.
2012-03-08. But when the iron range not is lit, it becomes cold in the house. There was frost on the windows.
2012-03-08. Anohter frosty window.
2012-03-08. Anohter frosty window. The house has 3 windows.
2012-03-08. Ice art on the window.
2012-03-08. What is that letter on the firewood bin doing there?

He, he it was me who put the letter there. It contains a CD with pictures of the man. I  took these last summer and some days ago. The man was not in the house, he was teaching the visitors to throw the lasso. The envelope is a surprise for him and he will find it when he comes back in the house.

He, he, he, I'm still a Santa in my red coat. ;-)

2012-03-08. The iron range was appreciated of many people in former times. It gave warmth and you could cook on it. It also has a little oven.
2012-03-08. I walked back to the reindeer.
2012-03-08. I gave Bob more lichen.
2012-03-08.
2012-03-08.
2012-03-08. He was eating out of my hand again.
2012-03-08. Bob and the Sami with a reindeer in the background.
2012-03-08. I walked back to the South Sami kåta and the wooden reindeer.
2012-03-08. After that I walked a while at Gammlia and enjoyed the birds made of snow again.
2012-03-08.
2012-03-08. The weather was so nice but it was cold today too.
2012-03-08.
2012-03-08.
2012-03-08. This is the fire place that visitors may use. You may grill sausages on it.
2012-03-08.
2012-03-09. The next day I went to the woods again and talked with the Sami in the South Sami Kåta. He is there to talk with the visitors and tell about the Sami. I have been sitting in this Sami kåta many time last summer.

The Sami man allowed me to publish this picture.

2012-03-09. The white reindeer eating lichen.
2012-03-09. The white reindeer and his owner in the background
2012-03-09.
2012-03-09. We were there for looking at the reindeer. But the reindeer looked at us too :-)
2012-03-09.
2012-03-09.
2012-03-09.
2012-03-09. I did pet Bob. Was petting with my left hand and taken the picture with my right hand
2012-03-09. Bob was looking at me.
2012-03-09. He, he, this picture came out so funny :-)
2012-03-09.
2012-03-09.
2012-03-09.
2012-03-09. A visitor took this picture of me feeding the reindeer Bob. But I had to cut it a lot so the face of a child should not be visible on this picture.
2012-03-09. This woman was trying to throw the lasso. Later I had a nice talk with her.
2012-03-09. Walking at Gammlia again.
2012-03-09.
2012-03-09. I was on my way to the museum to go on a Sami craft market.
2012-03-09. The pond with snow an ice. Still it's far to spring.
Last year, 2012, I bought this Fjällräv = Arcitc Fox made of ceramics at the Sami craft market..
2012-03-09. This year I bought a grouse of the same ceramics.
2012-03-10.  Today I stayed home and made a good dinner. Reindeer fillet with fried potatoes, peas and chanterelle sauce. And crowberry jelly to the meat. (little jar of glass)
2012-03-10. The food was delicious.
I had a wonderful week in the woods and at Gammlia. I remember the reindeer and all the nice people. This was the highlight of my winter.

Here I took off my left glove, so I should feel the coat of the reindeer. It feels a little rough and very thick. I reindeer can stand it to be out in the cold. They never are in a barn. They run wild in the woods and the mountains but every reindeer is owned by a Sami.

I also remember the light in the Sami house, and the light was also shining in my heart. :-)
