The Ume River
part 1

2017

End of winter, early spring

2017-03-10. Here it still was winter. I wore my dark olive winter jacket and had the red  hood of my fleece jacket on.
2017-03-30. The ice on the  river was breaking
2017-03-30. There were ducks in the open water and on the ice.
2017-03-30. A male mallard.
2017-03-30. Ducks sleeping on the ice.

2017-03-30. This one was swimming in the river.
2017-03-30. Later the duck was flying away.

2017-03-30.  The ducks awoke when they saw me coming with food.
2017-03-30.  A little dog was looking infesting to the ducks while I was feeding them.  After that the dog wanted to stay by the ducks and the owner had to carry the dog because he refused to go. It looked real funny. :-)

2017-03-30. The bridges in the marina are not by land in winter. They are lying a bit form land.
2017-03-30.  A couple of swans. This was a sign of spring that made me happy.

2017-03-30. Ducks on the ice and in the water. The duck have to be in the river when they arrive at the end of winter because there is still ice on the ponds.
2017-03-30. Something stroke my leg. It was a cat :-)
2017-03-30. The cat was interested of the duck. Fortunately the ducks were not on land.
2017-03-30. The edger of the river is steep so you can't go near the water.
2017-03-30. Were did the cat go now?
2017-03-30. The cat saw ducks on land. I scared away the ducks with my walking poles so the cat could not capture the ducks.
2017-03-30. The cat went to the other side of the path because there were some birds. But the bird were safe in the trees.
2017-03-30. I moved on and the cat was moving on too.
2017-03-30.  The cat was looking at me and wondering if I wanted to talk with him :-)
2017-04-24.  I took the picture of the path by the river from the old bridge. The ice in the river is breaking.
2017-04-24. Now there was more open water. I saw a couple of merganser.
2017-04-24. It's always warmer on the path by the river and spring is coming earlier there as in the rest of our town.

I saw the first blue anemones. That made me happy.
2017-04-24. The gulls were coming back.
2017-04-24. They are building a walking and biking bridge over the river. I went to the building place to take a look at the it. The firs must make bridge-abutment to the bridge. It will be a suspension bridge.

2017-04-27. Two gulls on an ice floe, floating on the river.
2017-04-27.  The male duck are so beautiful in early spring.

2017-05-05. Me by the river. A cold wind was blowing. Here the sky was blue and the river was blue too.
2017-05-06. Me on the view point. This day the sky was grey and the river was grey too.
2017-05-22. Now the grass was green.
2017-05-22. Spring flowers.
2017-05-22. Small leaves on the trees at the right. But it's colder at the left and there are no leaves yet.
